Major Boost for UP Students! CM Yogi Transfers ₹3,350 Cr Scholarship to 28 Lakh Accounts

In a massive move to support the education of underprivileged sections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday (March 30) transferred ₹3,350 crore directly into the bank accounts of nearly 28 lakh (27,99,982) students. This disbursement includes scholarships and fee reimbursements for students of Classes 9-10 and those at the post-matriculation level.
Transparency Through Technology Speaking at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, the Chief Minister emphasized the role of technology in ensuring a corruption-free system. He stated that previously, scholarship distribution was arbitrary and plagued by middlemen, but now, thanks to Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), every rupee reaches the rightful recipient. “Hard work has no substitute, and these scholarships are intended to enable students to work even harder,” he added.
A Record-Breaking Financial Year For the financial year 2025-26, the UP government has provided scholarships worth ₹4,800 crore to approximately 6.7 million children so far. In this specific installment, over 13.52 lakh OBC students received ₹1,838 crore. Additionally, financial assistance worth ₹100 crore was transferred to 33,334 dependent families under the National Family Benefit Scheme. The move is seen as a major step towards making higher education accessible to all sections of society.
