LPG Gas Booking New Rules: How many days to wait for the next cylinder? Don’t miss this update!

In an effort to streamline the distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and curb black marketing, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, along with major oil marketing companies (OMCs) like IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL, has strictly enforced the refill interval rule. If you are a domestic LPG consumer, you cannot simply book a cylinder whenever you wish.

The Mandatory 15-Day Gap: As per the current guidelines, there must be a minimum gap of 15 days between two consecutive refill bookings for a single cylinder connection. This means once a cylinder is delivered to your doorstep, the system will not allow you to place the next order until 15 days have passed. This buffer ensures that domestic subsidized gas is not diverted for commercial purposes and remains available for genuine households.

Annual Quota and Compliance: A consumer is entitled to 12 subsidized cylinders per financial year. While you can purchase more than 12 cylinders if needed, those will be charged at non-subsidized market rates. However, the 15-day restriction applies to all domestic bookings regardless of the subsidy status. If your household consumption is high, it is advised to track your usage carefully, as the automated booking systems (IVRS or Mobile Apps) are designed to reject any premature requests. Staying informed about these regulations helps ensure a hassle-free experience with your gas agency.
