LPG Crisis Hits Temples! ISKCON and Digha Jagannath Temple Cut Down Bhog
The ripple effects of the ongoing conflict between Israel, Iran, and the US have reached the sacred kitchens of West Bengal. A severe LPG crisis has forced prominent religious institutions like ISKCON Kolkata, the Digha Jagannath Temple, and Bagbazar Mayer Bari to drastically scale back or suspend their daily ‘Bhog’ distribution.
At ISKCON Kolkata, the traditional multi-course meal has been replaced by simple Khichdi to conserve gas. In Digha, the Jagannath Temple, which usually feeds 3,000 devotees daily, has slashed its capacity to just 750. The situation is even more dire at Bagbazar Sarada Mayer Bari, where free meal distribution has been temporarily halted. Authorities stated that the fuel shortage prompted these emergency measures. Devotees across the state are now praying for geopolitical stability so that the temple traditions can return to normalcy.
