The life of the late legendary actress Mahua Roychowdhury is being adapted into a biopic titled ‘Gungun Kore Mahua’, produced by Rana Sarkar. Actress Ankita Mallick has been roped in to play the titular role, while Divyani Mandal will portray the younger Mahua. Directed by Rajdeep Ghosh, the film has already hit the floors in North Kolkata.

The Cast & Crew: Versatile actor Lokenath Dey will be seen as Mahua’s father, Nilanjan Roychowdhury, depicting the struggles of a middle-class father who nurtured his daughter’s dreams. Interestingly, actor Dibyojyoti Dutta is working behind the camera for this project, with Deblina Nandy handling the music.

Drama on Day One: The production faced a major hurdle on its first day of shooting. Producer Rana Sarkar alleged that a group of individuals, claiming to be technicians but unaffiliated with the film, assaulted the unit members, forcing a halt. Counter-allegations were also leveled against the producer. Following the intervention of IMPA President Piya Sengupta and Federation President Swarup Biswas, the issues were resolved, and the shoot has officially resumed. Fans are eagerly waiting to see which other Tolly stars will join this ambitious project.
