The Mamata Banerjee government, known for its wide array of social welfare schemes like Laxmi Bhandar, Kanyashree, and Old Age Pension, is now tightening the strings. Nabanna has initiated a strict verification process to weed out ineligible beneficiaries who have been illegally availing themselves of these monthly grants.

According to the latest directives, beneficiaries must ensure their bank accounts are linked with Aadhaar to avoid payment failures. Those outside the age bracket of 25–60 years, or individuals already receiving government pensions or employment benefits, will no longer be eligible for Laxmi Bhandar. If your documents are not updated, your monthly allowance could be permanently halted starting this month. Applicants are advised to check their payment status on the official portal immediately to ensure their “Payment Under Process” status is active.
