The increasing cases of rape in Bangladesh have increased the concern of the Mohammad Yunus government. According to a report of the Human Rights Commission, young girls, disabled women and Hindu girls are the target of rapists. After the rape of a Hindu woman in Muradnagar of Comilla, four people including the main accused were arrested, but the echo of this incident is being heard till Dhaka. In the month of June, 363 cases of violence against women and girls were reported, including 67 rape incidents.

According to the report of human rights organization MSF, in June 2025, cases of rape of 19 girls and 23 teenagers were registered, while such incidents also happened with 7 disabled girls. According to the March 2025 data of Bangladesh Police Headquarters, about 5600 incidents of rape of young girls have taken place in the last 10 years. Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has alleged that the government was hiding the real figures of rapes as in the Muradnagar case the police became active only after the video went viral.
