Feasts Banned at Shradh in Bihar Village Strict Penalty for Violations

In Ward No. 8 of Mahadalit Tola English Village, Maheshkhunt Panchayat, Khagaria district, Bihar, the practice of elaborate feasts during Shradh ceremonies has been prohibited. A collective decision by the villagers states that no feasts will be organized for Shradh henceforth. Families violating this rule will face a fine of Rs 5,100. The primary aim of this decision is to alleviate the financial burden on economically weaker families.
The discussion on this matter began recently when Bablu Das, a poor youth from the village, expressed his inability to arrange a feast for his mother’s Shradh. Subsequently, under the leadership of Harilal Das, a meeting was held where this strict rule was implemented. The villagers emphasized that while their presence at the funeral rites and Shradh is welcome, elaborate feasts are not. This move sets a compassionate precedent for all sections of society.
