Political Firestorm Erupts Over Kasba Gang Rape, Sukanta Majumdar Blames ‘Trinamool Nexus’

KASBA: A horrific gang rape incident at South Calcutta Law College in Kasba has sent shockwaves through West Bengal’s political landscape.1 State BJP President Sukanta Majumdar has directly called for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s resignation, alleging a “Trinamool nexus” in various colleges across the state is responsible for such incidents.
“As Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has completely failed to ensure the safety of women in the state,” Majumdar stated, joining a protest against the incident. He further asserted, “These Trinamool nexus groups operate in the state’s colleges, turning them into dens for their misdeeds.”
Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the crime, along with a security guard from the college. The National Commission for Women has also taken suo motu cognizance of the incident and ordered an investigation.2 Majumdar’s strong condemnation and demand for the Chief Minister’s resignation are expected to escalate political tensions in the state.
