Fake Google Pay app ice cream scam! Three minors in Nainital’s feat goes viral

Who doesn’t love ice cream! From eight to eighty, everyone is a fan of ice cream. Be it summer or any other time, the demand for ice cream is always high. But what happened at an ice cream shop on Mall Road in Nainital will make your eyes water. Three minors were using a fake ‘Google Pay’ app for the last six months to eat ice cream for free.
Fraudulent technique:
It is known that these three minors used to eat ice cream every day and leave the shop by showing a fake payment screen. They used a Chinese fake app that looked exactly like the real Google Pay, but in reality no transaction was made.
How it was caught:
The incident came to light on May 7. On that day too, as usual, the three minors ate ice cream and showed payment through the fake app. But this time the shopkeeper got suspicious. He immediately checked the transaction on his mobile and found that no money had been received. That day, without bothering, the shopkeeper waited for the next day. The next day, when the boys came to the shop again and did the same thing, the shopkeeper asked them to show him the previous day’s payment. The boys started looking around and suddenly tried to run away, but this time the shopkeeper caught them.
Apology and education:
During interrogation, the boys admitted that they were cheating by using a fake app. After being caught, they apologized and promised not to repeat the mistake. They also gave the shopkeeper Rs 300 for the ice cream. Considering their young age, the shopkeeper shared the CCTV footage of the entire incident on social media rather than getting them into trouble with the police and instead, to teach them a lesson. The video quickly went viral and people praised the shopkeeper for his caution. The incident also raises questions about blind faith in digital payments.
