New twist in Thane espionage case, contact with multiple people under the identity of ‘Sir’

On Sunday, Maharashtra ATS arrested Ravi Kumar Verma from Thane. Ravi, who works as a junior mechanical engineer at the naval dock, has been accused of smuggling sensitive Indian information to Pakistan. New information has come to light in this case.

What is the new information?

On Monday, the Anti-Terrorism Squad produced Ravi Verma in the Thane District Sessions Court on charges of espionage to Pakistan. It is learned that various mobile SIM cards were found with the arrested Ravi Verma. He was in contact with a person named ‘Sir’. The real name of this person is known to be Single. However, who this person is is not yet clear. The police suspect that Ravi Verma is still hiding information. As a result, the court has ordered Ravi Verma to be kept in police custody for 3 days, i.e. till June 5.

What is the allegation?

Ravi Verma, who was arrested by ATS, was in contact with two Facebook accounts in Pakistan. The names of these two Pakistani Facebook accounts are Payal Sharma and Isprit. Ravi Verma sent information about 14 submarines and warships to these Facebook accounts. He used to create important information and pictures of warships and other ships and send them to Pakistan. Since it is prohibited to carry mobile phones around the Naval Dock, Ravi Verma used to remember the structure of the warships there and other information. Then he would send all this information to the accounts named Payal Sharma and Isprit. The investigation also revealed that he used to send this information in audio and text format and also by drawing pictures.

Pak contact since 2024

Ravi Verma started contacting the Pakistani Facebook account from November 2024. Ravi Verma was repeatedly receiving requests from the Facebook accounts of Pakistani intelligence operatives Payal Sharma and Isprit for information about warships for a project. Trapped in a honey trap, Ravi Verma was regularly sending this information to Payal Sharma and Isprit.
