82-Year-Old Woman Sets World Record

Sarah Blackman has once again proven that age is just a number. At 82, she is now making headlines after setting a world record. At an age when many believe there is nothing new to do and simply wait for death, Sarah stands as a unique example.

Sarah Blackman of the United States held a plank position for over five minutes at 82 years and 229 days old. Sarah, who lives in Massachusetts, is nearly two years older than the previous record holder, Annie Judice, when Judice performed her record-breaking plank.

Sarah’s fitness journey began two years ago. Two years prior, her husband, Arthur Wade Blackman Jr., passed away. She had cared for her husband for a long time, but after his death, she felt very lonely and decided it was time to do something for herself.

She began various physical exercises to stay fit. Sarah started looking for a personal trainer and found fitness coach Vince, with whom she began basic exercises.

Vince introduced Sarah to the plank. Unlike others, Sarah didn’t find it too difficult. She could plank for four minutes. It was then she decided that either there was something wrong with her, or perhaps she was better than he thought.

Sarah has three children and three grandchildren. Her grandchildren also encouraged her on her fitness journey. She worked on her planking almost every day and completed her challenge. She gradually began to increase her plank time from four minutes.

Sarah did something fun during her planks that helped her maintain the position. She listened to Lionel Richie’s song “Endless Love,” which is approximately 4 minutes and 40 seconds long.

Sarah previously worked as a pediatric cardiology technician and a preschool director. She left her career to raise her children. She encourages everyone to exercise as they age, stating that the key is to get into a routine and stick to it, which helps make life more beautiful.
