A grave accusation has been leveled against a government doctor in Latur, Maharashtra. An audio clip viral on social media purportedly reveals the doctor instructing a colleague to “kill” a COVID-19 patient. This sensational audio clip is reportedly from 2021.

According to an Economic Times report, the accused doctor is Shashikant Deshpande, who works at Udgir Government Hospital. The release of this viral audio clip has sparked strong reactions everywhere.

Regarding the incident, the deceased patient’s husband filed an FIR on May 24. He alleged that on April 15, 2021, he admitted his COVID-positive wife to the hospital. After ten days of treatment, his wife was discharged from the hospital.

However, the controversy stems from this audio clip. Although Aaj Tak Digital has not verified its authenticity, the clip allegedly features the doctor saying, “No one should be allowed inside. Just kill this woman.” The woman’s name is clearly audible in the clip. Furthermore, the conversation mentions that oxygen was removed from her.

Police have launched an investigation based on this complaint. They are questioning the accused doctor, Shashikant Deshpande. For the purpose of the investigation, the doctor’s mobile phone has also been seized. His statement has already been recorded. Efforts are underway to match the voice in the audio clip with the doctor’s voice. Currently, the doctor has been relieved of all medical duties. This incident has caused widespread agitation in the area.
