Russian Diplomat Tests COVID Positive in Kolkata! 27 Cases in 4 Days, Alarms Ringing!

A renewed surge in COVID-19 cases has gripped Kolkata, creating an atmosphere of apprehension among the public. Over the past few days, coronavirus infections have been steadily climbing across the state, and Wednesday’s statistics have further intensified these concerns. According to sources from the health department, a staggering 27 individuals have tested COVID positive in Kolkata alone over the last four days. These infected individuals have been identified based on their RT-PCR test results and have commenced treatment. They are currently receiving medical care in various hospitals across the city. Of particular concern is the revelation that a Russian diplomat working in Kolkata is among those infected, raising significant alarm bells among health experts. This incident not only signals a localized outbreak but also raises potential international implications.
The report released by Swasthya Bhawan on Wednesday indicates that a total of 27 individuals have tested positive for coronavirus in Kolkata between last Saturday and Wednesday. Notably, 5 of these positive reports came in on Wednesday alone, clearly demonstrating an upward trend in daily infections. Among those on this list is Maxim Kozlov, the Russian Consul General in Kolkata. He developed symptoms such as fever and a mild cold, prompting him to undergo an RT-PCR test. Upon receiving a positive report, he was immediately sent into isolation and admitted to a private hospital in the city. This development has reignited fears regarding the COVID situation and underscores the critical need for increased vigilance among everyone. Emphasis is being placed on adhering to health guidelines and avoiding large gatherings to curb further spread.
