This new smartwatch will look after your health. What features does it have?

Popular smart gadget manufacturer Huawei has launched its new smartwatch, the Huawei Watch 5. Combining advanced health monitoring technology with a modern design, this smartwatch will provide users with more accurate and faster health tracking.

The most notable feature of this smartwatch is the new ‘X-Tap’ side-mounted technology.

Through a side-mounted fingertip sensor, this technology can quickly and accurately measure ECG, blood oxygen levels (SpO2), and arterial stiffness. This sensor is especially helpful in collecting precise blood vessel signals, providing signals of 50 times better quality than previous sensors.

The Huawei Watch 5 doesn’t rely solely on wrist-based sensors, which is a big change in health tracking. This is part of Huawei’s ‘TruSense’ technology. The ‘X-Tap’ system integrates an ECG, PPG, and a sensitive pressure sensor into a single module, powered by the company’s distributed sensor module. This allows for quick health readings using just the fingertip.

Holding a finger on the ‘X-Tap’ sensor provides a snapshot of nine important health metrics, including heart rate variability and blood oxygen levels, in less than a minute. Additionally, SpO2 can be manually measured in about ten seconds by using pulse wave signals from the fingertip instead of the wrist.

The watch features an AMOLED display that supports up to 3,000 nits of brightness. This display is clearly visible even in direct sunlight, enhancing user convenience. Furthermore, the smartwatch includes gesture control features such as double tap and double slide, which make the user experience even easier and more refined.

The Huawei Watch 5 is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms. It supports e-SIM, meaning users can make calls and use the internet directly from the smartwatch even without their phone nearby. Depending on usage, the Watch 5’s battery life can last from 2 to 4.5 days. However, keeping the always-on display feature active will drain the battery faster.
