Treatment of snake bite: Miraculous remedies of Dronapushpi and Giloy

Deaths due to snake bite are often less due to poison and more due to fear. Out of 550 species of snakes in the world, only 10 are highly poisonous, and their poison is not immediately fatal. According to experts, the patient’s life can be saved with the right treatment on time. Natural remedies are resorted to in rural areas, which sometimes prove to be surprisingly effective. Among these, plants like Dronapushpi and Giloy are prominent, which are considered easily available medicines.
Dronapushpi, which is called Gumma in rural areas, is a weed easily found on roads and forests. Ayurveda expert Dr. Ramesh Sharma says, “In case of snake bite, extracting juice from Dronapushpi leaves and giving it to the patient can reduce the effect of poison in 10 minutes.” Apart from this, Giloy root juice is also miraculous. If the patient’s body starts turning blue, then applying Giloy juice in the nose, ears and eyes provides immediate relief. Grinding peacock feathers and mixing them in water and giving it to the victim also reduces the effect of the poison.
Although these remedies are helpful in an emergency, doctors say that it is important to reach the nearest hospital immediately in case of snake bite. Anti-venom injection along with first aid is the most effective treatment. Rural remedies should be considered a supplement to scientific treatment, not a substitute.
