Kailash Mansarovar Yatra returns: Good news for devotees after five years!

After a long wait of five years, there is hope of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra resuming. The holy pilgrimage, which took place in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and goes to the beautiful Mansarovar Lake, located 200 km from Lhasa in Tibet, is a unique amalgamation of spiritual and natural beauty for the devotees. The Indian government has intensified discussions with China to restart the yatra, which has created a wave of enthusiasm among millions of pilgrims.

Traditionally, thousands of devotees undertake this yatra from June to September through the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand and the Nathula Pass in Sikkim since 2015. Since the Mansarovar area is under Chinese control, bilateral agreements between India and China have been the basis for conducting this yatra. Quoting sources, the Ministry of External Affairs has indicated that both countries have agreed to resume the yatra. The ministry may soon issue an official notification for June-September 2025. A senior official said, “This is a big relief for the devotees. We will soon share the outline of the yatra.” This move not only holds spiritual significance but also gives a positive message in India-China relations.
