MBBS twins’ amazing performance: Reba and Raheen created history by scoring equal marks

Surat: Girls in India are making their mark in every field of education today, and this time twin sisters Reba and Raheen Hafiji from Surat, Gujarat are in the news. These 24-year-old sisters have created a rare record by scoring equal marks in the final MBBS examination. These sisters, who completed their studies from GMERS Medical College, Vadodara, scored 66.8 percent with 935 marks. This achievement is not just a story of academic success, but also an inspiring saga of overcoming financial challenges and becoming the first doctor in the family.

Same score, same dream

This success of Reba and Raheen is not a coincidence. Both have been studying together since childhood and became each other’s strength at every step. Raheen says, “We are the first doctors in the family. My uncle, who is himself a doctor, inspired us to come into this field. Since school days, we used to score equal marks, because we always prepared together.” Their hard work was evident in NEET UG as well, where Reba scored 97 per cent and Raheen scored 97.7 per cent—all without any coaching.

In Class 10, Reba scored 99 per cent and Raheen scored 98.5 per cent, while in Class 12 they scored 98.2 and 97.3 per cent respectively. Their even performance in the final MBBS exam is a testament to their hard work and togetherness.

A journey full of challenges

The sisters’ journey was not easy. Their mother Gulshad Bano is a single mother and a teacher by profession. Despite limited resources, she gave her daughters every possible support for their studies. “We could have got admission in medical colleges like Jamnagar or Bhavnagar, but we didn’t want to be separated. So we chose GMERS College in Gotri, which was also close to Surat, in 2019,” says Reba. The decision was important for them both emotionally and practically, as it was the first time they were living alone away from home.

Contribution of mother and family
Reba and Raheen give credit for their success to their mother and grandparents. Raheen says emotionally, “We have seen many ups and downs, but mother and grandparents were our strength. Because of them, we were able to fulfill their dreams.” Government scholarships and merit-based financial assistance also made their path easy. Both the sisters are now preparing for postgraduation. Raheen dreams of specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, while Reba wants to go into internal medicine. The special thing is that they want to stay in the same college for postgraduation as well.

Inspiration of Sindhi community
These twin sisters are among the few women of the Sindhi community who have obtained a bachelor’s degree in medicine. Their story is not just a personal victory, but also a symbol of social progress. Reba says, “Maa taught us to dream big and serve humanity. We want our story to inspire other girls.” This is a proud moment for their mother Gulshad Bano, who single-handedly brought her daughters to this position.

A new example
This achievement of Reba and Rahin is not just an academic record. It shows the power of hard work, dedication and family support. These sisters from a small town in Gujarat have become the topic of discussion across the country today. Will they touch new heights together in the future? Only time will tell, but for now their story is an inspiration for every person who has the courage to make his dreams come true despite difficulties.
