Amazon India’s big step: Will build 100 rest centers for delivery partners by 2025

New Delhi, 8 April 2025: E-commerce giant Amazon India has announced a unique initiative for its delivery partners. The company said on Tuesday that it will set up 100 rest centers across the country by the end of 2025. These centers are being built specifically for delivery personnel working in the e-commerce and logistics sector, so that they can get relief and necessary facilities during work. This move is being considered a first of its kind effort in the logistics industry, which offers a new way to honor the hard work of delivery partners.

What will be the facilities?

According to Amazon’s statement, many essential facilities will be available to delivery partners for free in these rest centers. These include air-conditioned rooms, clean drinking water, electrolytes, mobile charging points, toilets, first aid kits and light refreshments. Each center will have a seating area for about 15 people, as well as parking facility will be provided. These centres will be open from 9 am to 9 pm, and any delivery partner can use it for free for 30 minutes at a time.

A company spokesperson said, “Our delivery partners are the backbone of our success. This initiative is a small thanks to them, so that they can spend some time relaxing amidst the scorching heat or busy schedule.”

Where will these centres be built?

These rest centres are being built in crowded areas, where delivery personnel are busy delivering packages throughout the day. Amazon has chosen petrol pumps and commercial rented places for this, so that these places are easily accessible. The special thing is that this facility will not be limited to Amazon’s own employees, but all delivery partners will be able to avail it.

Sanjeev Kumar, a delivery partner from Delhi, welcomed this initiative and said, “After riding a bike all day in the heat, one gets tired. If there is a place to stop, drink water and rest a little, then the energy will remain in the work.” His words reflect the feelings of thousands of delivery personnel who work hard every day to deliver goods to customers.

Why is this initiative special?

Amid the growing pressure of e-commerce, the difficulties of delivery partners have also increased. Amidst the scorching sun, traffic and time constraints, they hardly get time to rest. This plan of Amazon has not only brought relief to these workers, but is also setting a new standard in the industry. Experts believe that this can also inspire other companies to start such facilities for their employees.

Logistics expert Rakesh Sinha says, “This initiative will increase the efficiency of delivery partners and will also take care of their health. This step of Amazon shows that they consider their workforce not just a resource, but as humans.”

Company’s strategy and expectations

Amazon India has rapidly expanded its logistics network in the last few years. Starting these rest centers is not only a step towards employee welfare, but is also being considered a part of the strategy to strengthen the company’s image. An analyst said, “This move will increase Amazon’s credibility among both customers and employees. Also, it can improve the quality and timeliness of delivery.” However, some people are also questioning the challenges of implementing it. Pradeep Sharma, a businessman from Mumbai, said, “The idea is good, but 100 centers will not be enough for the whole country. It will need to be increased.” What will be the future? Amazon has set a target to complete this initiative by 2025, but the company has indicated that the number and facilities of these centers can be increased in the future. This new beginning for delivery partners is an effort to make their work easier as well as honor their contribution. As Bengaluru delivery partner Ramesh Gowda said laughingly, “Now it seems that the company is also worried about us. If we get a little relief, then the goods will also reach the customers faster.” This initiative can become a new example not only for Amazon, but for the entire e-
