Success of Mudra Yojana: Income doubled, dreams realised—Beneficiaries shared their stories with PM Modi

New Delhi: The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, which gives a big sky to small dreams, has completed its 10 years. On this occasion, on April 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the beneficiaries of the scheme and heard the stories of the changes in their lives. In the last decade, this scheme has given a new flight to micro industries and small businesses by giving loans to 50 crore people. The PM described it as a platform that strengthened the hardworking hands and made women self-reliant.
Heart to heart talk with PM
In this meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence, the beneficiaries shared their success stories. The PM wrote on the social media platform X, “On the occasion of #10YearsOfMUDRA, I invited Mudra beneficiaries from all over the country to my residence. Listening to their stories, it felt that this scheme is not just distributing money, but hope.” In this conversation, many people told how the Mudra scheme showed them the path of self-reliance by taking them out of financial crisis. A young entrepreneur told the PM, “After leaving my job, I wanted to do something of my own. At that time, I used to earn Rs 70,000, but no one was ready to lend money to start a business. Mudra Yojana gave me a loan, and today I am earning Rs 2 lakh a month. Also, I am providing employment to others.” His words reflect the passion that this scheme has instilled in lakhs of people.
Income doubled, life changed
After listening to the stories of the beneficiaries, it became clear that Mudra Yojana has brought about big changes at the small level. Delhi tailor Kamlesh said, “Earlier I used to run a small shop. I bought machines with Mudra loan, expanded the business and now I am providing employment to three women. My children are also studying in a good school.” At the same time, a centre from Madhya Pradesh shared his story, “I started by making 50 brooms. Today, with the help of Mudra, I am producing 500 units. My income has more than doubled.” Strong participation of women
The biggest feature of the Mudra scheme has been its inclusiveness. Secretary of the Department of Financial Services M. Nagaraju told ANI, “The PM started this scheme for those who wanted loans without guarantee. In 10 years, we sanctioned 50 crore loan accounts and distributed Rs 33 lakh crore. 68 percent of the beneficiaries are women, and 50 percent are from SC, ST and OBC communities.” This figure shows that the scheme has touched every section of the society.
Nagaraju further said, “Beneficiaries can easily take loans from the online portal. This process is transparent and fast, which has empowered small entrepreneurs.” This participation of women is an example of not only economic but also social change.
A scheme that gives wings to dreams
The aim of the Mudra scheme was to provide financial support to micro industries, and it has succeeded in its goal. Economic expert Rakesh Mehta says, “This scheme has proved to be a game-changer for small businesses. Collateral-free loans have given an opportunity to those who were earlier turned away from the banks.” The stories of beneficiaries like Kamlesh and Kendra are living examples of this.
PM’s message
After interacting with the beneficiaries, PM Modi said, “Mudra Yojana is not just a financial aid, but a means of self-respect and self-reliance. It is a matter of pride to hear that people are not only improving their lives but also providing employment to others.” His words underline the spirit of the scheme—an India where every hand gets work and every dream comes true.
Way forward
Disbursement of Rs 33 lakh crore in 10 years and reaching 50 crore people is proof of the success of this scheme. But this is just the beginning. As more people join it, it will continue to be a ray of hope for small entrepreneurs and women. These stories of beneficiaries are not only inspiring but also show that hard work can pay off if the right opportunity is found. This 10-year journey of Mudra Yojana is laying the foundation of a new India—where incomes double and dreams come true.
