Rameswaram/Colombo: The day of Ram Navami was special for the country in many ways. While Ramlala was anointed with Surya Tilak in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a divine darshan of Ram Setu from the sky while returning from Sri Lanka. After concluding his two-day Sri Lanka tour, PM Modi inaugurated the country’s first vertical lift Pamban Bridge in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Sri Lanka tour: 7 agreements, 14 fishermen released

PM Modi’s two-day Sri Lanka tour (5-6 April) was full of many achievements. These include defense cooperation, energy, health, digital transformation and economic package for the eastern province. India will help in every possible way in its economic progress.” Apart from this, in Anuradhapura, he inaugurated the upgradation of the 128 km long Maho-Omanthai railway line and the modern signaling system for the Maho-Anuradhapura section. These projects have been completed with India’s assistance of $ 91.27 million and $ 14.89 million, which are a solid example of bilateral cooperation.

Inauguration of Pamban Bridge in Rameswaram

After returning from Sri Lanka, PM Modi reached Rameswaram, where he inaugurated the new Pamban Bridge. This is the country’s first vertical lift bridge, which connects Rameswaram to the mainland. Built at a cost of Rs 535 crore, this bridge will facilitate rail and sea traffic simultaneously. Its vertical part can rise up to 17 meters, allowing ships to pass easily. Ramesh Balu, a local resident, said, “This bridge will make our travel easier and promote tourism.” The project promises regional development with technological advancement.
