First Solar Eclipse of the Year in March! Know When and Where to Watch

The month of March 2025 is set to be an exciting time for astronomy enthusiasts, as the first solar eclipse of the year is set to occur. This year, a total of four eclipses are expected—two solar and two lunar. The first solar eclipse will take place on March 29 and will be a partial eclipse. During this event, the Moon will partially cover the Sun, but not entirely. This celestial event will be visible from Europe, northern Asia, northwestern Africa, and parts of North and South America. Unfortunately, the eclipse will not be visible from India.
In Hindu tradition, eclipses hold significant astrological importance and are often considered inauspicious. It is believed that performing religious rituals, prayers, or auspicious activities during an eclipse is not advised. However, since this eclipse will not be visible in India, there will be no religious restrictions or observance of the Sutak period. The second and final solar eclipse of 2025 will occur on September 21 and will be visible from Antarctica, the Pacific Ocean, and southern Australia.
