Police Attacked in Bihar, ASI Killed by Villagers in Two Separate Incidents

Bihar continues to face the challenges of ‘Jungle Raj,’ with even the police not safe. In the latest developments, two separate attacks on police officers in as many days have resulted in fatalities. The law enforcement’s security is now being questioned, with the state witnessing rising violence against its officials.
In one such incident, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Santosh Kumar Singh, was killed on March 14, 2025. He was called to a dispute in the Nandlalpura area of Munger district. While trying to mediate between two parties, an assailant attacked Singh with a sharp weapon, critically injuring him. Despite being rushed to a local private hospital and later transferred to Patna, Singh succumbed to his injuries. The police are on the lookout for the attackers, who were reportedly intoxicated during the assault.
This tragic incident followed another violent encounter just a day earlier in Araria city, Purnia district, where villagers were accused of beating an ASI to death. Five suspects have been arrested in that case, as confirmed by Munger’s SP Syed Imran Masood. The frequency of these attacks on police officers has sparked concerns about the law and order situation in Bihar.
