Russian President Putin praised India’s role in the ceasefire efforts. “We are all busy in our own countries, but the President of China, the Prime Minister of India, the Presidents of Brazil and South Africa are devoting their time to resolving this conflict,” the Russian President said at a press conference with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. “We appreciate their efforts, as they are working to end the war and save innocent lives.” Putin made it clear that Russia is ready for the ceasefire proposed by the United States, but has also set some conditions for it. He said that the ceasefire should lead to lasting peace and address the root cause of the crisis. India has always spoken of prioritizing peace talks over the Russia-Ukraine war. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said many times that war cannot solve any problem and talks are the only solution.
