Heavy Fines Imposed on Thousands of Delhi Drivers for Traffic Violations During Holi


The worst fear has finally come true. Thousands of Delhi residents now face heavy fines as the threat of strict traffic enforcement during Holi has become a reality. The Delhi Traffic Police has identified numerous vehicles violating traffic rules on Holi, and the process of issuing hefty fines to the vehicle owners has already begun.

In preparation for the festival, the traffic police made extensive arrangements to ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers. Special attention was given to controlling drunken driving, triple riding, underage driving, helmet-less two-wheeler riding, and stunt riding. A total of 84 special teams were deployed to monitor and enforce traffic regulations. With the help of breath analyzers and joint checking teams, over 7,200 drivers were penalized for violating rules. This operation was carried out from 8 AM to midnight on March 14, targeting major intersections, sensitive locations, and potential drinking spots.

Traffic Violations and Penalties:

  • Drunk driving: 1213
  • Triple riding: 573
  • Riding without a helmet: 2376
  • Tinted windows: 97
  • Other violations: 2971
  • Total violations: 7230

The Delhi Traffic Police urges all drivers to adhere to traffic laws, avoid drinking and driving, and ensure safety by wearing helmets and not engaging in reckless driving.
