Trump Administration Prepares to Impose Travel Ban on Citizens of 41 Countries

The Trump administration is preparing to impose travel restrictions on citizens from 41 countries, a move that could dramatically affect international relations. The plan, as reported by Reuters, has been divided into three phases, with different levels of restriction for each country. The first group of 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen, would face a complete ban. Citizens from these nations would no longer be eligible to apply for any U.S. visas.

The second group, consisting of five nations—Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, and South Sudan—would be restricted from applying for all visas except student and tourist visas. A third group of 26 countries, including Angola, Bhutan, and Pakistan, would have to meet specific conditions within 60 days, or they could face partial or full travel restrictions.

This move marks a continuation of Trump’s previous actions, which included a controversial travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries during his first term. While that ban was temporarily blocked by the Supreme Court, the latest restrictions may similarly draw significant scrutiny. Despite inquiries to the U.S. State Department, no officials have commented on the new policy.
