Israel Resumes Attacks in Gaza Amid Ceasefire, 8 Killed in Two Days

Despite an ongoing ceasefire, Israel has resumed its attacks on Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 8 people, including one woman, over the last two days. Al Jazeera reported that on Saturday morning, drone strikes targeted Gaza City, killing four Palestinians. Meanwhile, an Israeli naval assault off Gaza’s coast also claimed the life of a fisherman.
The day before, on Thursday, Israeli forces launched artillery shells into residential areas in Rafah, southern Gaza, killing three, including a woman. Witnesses reported to Anadolu Agency that attacks have been frequent in Gaza City and Rafah over the past few days, despite the ceasefire agreement. The ongoing conflict, sparked by an October 7 assault by Hamas that killed over 1,200 Israelis, has led to the deaths of over 48,500 Palestinians. The ceasefire, brokered by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, has been in effect since January 19, but violations are frequent, with the death toll continuing to rise.
