Two ASIs Killed in Bihar Within 48 Hours, Two Arrested

In a shocking turn of events, Bihar witnessed the killing of two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) within a span of just 48 hours while they were on duty to control crimes in rural areas. The latest incident occurred in Munger district when ASI Santosh Kumar was brutally attacked and killed by villagers during an attempt to resolve a violent dispute. This comes just two days after another ASI, Rajiv Kumar, was lynched in Araria while trying to arrest a criminal. Both incidents highlight the increasing dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the state.
The Munger incident took place on Friday night when ASI Santosh Kumar received information about a violent clash between two families in the ITI-Nandlalpur area. Upon arriving at the scene with his team, he tried to mediate and calm the situation. However, one of the parties allegedly turned violent, attacking him with sharp weapons. Despite being rushed to the hospital and later transferred to Patna for advanced treatment, ASI Santosh succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, police have arrested two individuals and are actively investigating both cases to bring those responsible to justice. These back-to-back killings have sent shockwaves through Bihar’s police force, raising concerns about officer safety and public cooperation.
