PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Will you install a solar panel on your roof? However, the central government has brought an excellent free electricity scheme for you.

On February 13, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this free electricity scheme named PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli.

Since then, many people have been interested in installing solar panels. Under this scheme, up to 300 units of free electricity can be obtained. Minister Prahlad Joshi stated that solar panels have been installed in 10.09 lakh houses since the start of this scheme.

However, the popularity of this free electricity scheme is increasing among the people. The number of subscribers is increasing across the country. Subsidy is also being provided for installing solar power on the roof of the house.

Electricity bills can be reduced under this scheme. The center aims to install solar panels in 20 lakh houses by October. It plans to provide solar power to one crore homes by March 2027.

What is this scheme?
The PM Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana scheme provides a subsidy of up to 40 percent for installing solar panels in homes. As part of this scheme, 12 public sector banks are offering attractive financing options, including unsecured loans of up to Rs. 2 lakh at a subsidized interest rate of 6.75 percent.

Loans up to Rs. 6 lakh, ROI or interest rate of just 6.75 percent per annum
No income documents are required for loans up to Rs. 2 lakh.
Up to 90 percent of the cost can be financed.
Who is eligible? :

The household installing solar panels must be an Indian citizen.
The family must have a house with a roof suitable for installing solar panels.
The house should have a verified electricity connection.
The family should not have availed any other subsidy like solar panel.
How to apply? :

Visit the official website (https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in/).
Go to the Consumer tab and select “Apply Now” (or) open the login dropdown menu and select “Consumer Login”.
Log in and verify with your mobile number. Enter name, state, other details.
Verify your email ID. Save your profile.
For Vendor, select Yes or No option as per your requirement.
Click on ‘Apply for Solar Rooftop’ and provide the state, district DISCOM and other details.
The DISCOM will verify these details and approve the installation of the solar panel.
After approval, select the vendor and provide the bank details for the subsidy.
