Chahal’s New Address: Farewell to Indian Cricket, Joins Foreign Team

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has decided to move on from Indian cricket after enduring prolonged neglect by the country’s cricket administration. Once a key player for India, Chahal last represented the national team in 2023. Despite being part of India’s triumphant T20 World Cup squad in 2024, he spent the entire tournament warming the bench, signaling a clear shift in his role within the team. Frustrated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) indifference, Chahal has now opted to explore opportunities abroad.

The spinner has signed with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club for the 2025 season, marking a new chapter in his career. From June 2025, Chahal will feature in England’s County Championship and One-Day Cup tournaments. This isn’t Chahal’s first stint in English domestic cricket; he previously impressed while playing for Northamptonshire in 2023, claiming 19 wickets in just four matches. With his consistent performances, Chahal aims to prove his worth on foreign soil. If the BCCI continues to overlook him, the possibility of Chahal representing another nation in international cricket cannot be ruled out.
