Ukraine Under Attack Despite Ceasefire Talks

Despite agreeing to enter ceasefire negotiations after three years of relentless conflict, Ukraine remains under attack by Russia. Ukrainian officials accuse Russia of continuing its assaults even as peace talks loom. On Wednesday night, Russian forces reportedly launched missile and drone strikes on Dnipro city in central Ukraine and surrounding areas. According to the Ukrainian military, Russia carried out attacks with one missile and 117 drones on Thursday alone.

Out of the total drones deployed, Ukraine claims to have shot down 74, while 38 missed their targets. Local administration reports from Dnipro indicate that residential buildings were damaged during these attacks, injuring three women who are currently receiving hospital treatment. The previous night saw a similar assault where Russia attacked with 133 drones and three missiles. Most were neutralized by the Ukrainian air force. Meanwhile, Russia’s defense ministry reported intercepting 337 Ukrainian drones over the past few days, marking it as potentially Ukraine’s largest drone offensive against Russia.

Amidst this turmoil, although both nations show interest in halting the war, no formal agreement has been reached yet. U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Russia that without committing to a ceasefire, they could face severe economic sanctions. This ongoing violence highlights the fragility of current diplomatic efforts.
