Bengal Politics Heats Up, BJP Leader Warns of ‘Gujarat Repeat’ if Suvendu is Touched

West Bengal’s political landscape has ignited once again, as a fresh war of words erupts between the BJP and TMC. BJP leader and lawyer Kaustav Bagchi has issued a stern warning, stating that if Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari is touched, West Bengal will witness a repeat of Gujarat. His statement has triggered a new wave of political controversy.
TMC MLA Humayun Kabir had earlier challenged Suvendu, demanding that he withdraw his controversial remarks about Muslim legislators. He warned that if Suvendu failed to do so within 72 hours, 42 Muslim MLAs would confront him in the assembly. In response, Kaustav lashed out, saying, “A jihadi and 42 others want to ‘teach a lesson’ to Bengal’s opposition leader? Better secure land in Pakistan or Bangladesh, you’ll need it after 2026. And as for Suvendu, if you dare to touch him, Bengal will witness a Gujarat-like repeat.”
Kaustav’s remarks have sparked an outcry across the state, raising concerns over communal tensions. While he did not explicitly clarify his statement, his reference to Gujarat has been widely interpreted as a threat of communal violence. Opposition parties are now demanding strict action against him, fearing that such inflammatory comments could lead to a dangerous political crisis in Bengal.
