Fake DSP Arrested After Impersonating Police Officer Outside Hotel

A shocking incident unfolded in Suryapet, Telangana, when a man posing as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was arrested for impersonation. The individual, identified as Bathula Srinivas Rao, was found standing outside a hotel in full police uniform. Local police were alerted after hotel staff noticed him lingering suspiciously for an extended period. When questioned about his posting and asked to produce identification, the imposter attempted to assert dominance but eventually crumbled under scrutiny.

The investigation revealed that Rao had been conning people by promising them jobs as police officers. He allegedly swindled ₹36 lakh from a woman in Kodad by falsely guaranteeing her a Sub-Inspector position. During the arrest, police recovered ₹18 lakh in cash, a car, and the fake uniform. Rao reportedly squandered half the stolen money on lavish expenses. Authorities also confirmed multiple pending fraud cases against him in Andhra Pradesh. Suryapet’s Superintendent of Police, K. Narasimha, stated that Rao was released on bail in September 2024 after his initial arrest earlier this year.

This case highlights the growing issue of impersonation and fraud, raising concerns about public trust in law enforcement. Fake uniforms and forged identities are increasingly being used to exploit unsuspecting victims. Law enforcement agencies have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities immediately to prevent such scams.
