Notorious criminal Aman, close to Bishnoi gang, killed in ‘encounter’ in Ranchi while trying to snatch police gun

Notorious criminal Aman Sahu was killed in a shootout by the Jharkhand Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Aman was imprisoned in a jail in Chhattisgarh. He was being brought to Ranchi on transit remand from Raipur jail in connection with the murder of NTPC official Kumar Gaurav. Near Palamu, the police vehicle met with an accident.

The police claim that Aman tried to take advantage of the situation by snatching a firearm and attempting to escape. He even fired at ATS members. The ATS retaliated, leading to Aman’s death in the exchange of fire.

According to police sources, Aman faced over a hundred cases, including murder, extortion, and kidnapping. Cases were registered against him in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and even West Bengal. A case was also filed against him at Baliganj police station for allegedly extorting ₹50 lakh from a businessman. A few days ago, after the murder of an NTPC official in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, chaos ensued from Ranchi to Delhi. The Jharkhand Police had no clear information about how the official was killed or who was involved, raising questions about the police’s role.

While questions were being raised about the Jharkhand Police’s role in the NTPC official’s murder, the state police DG, Anurag Gupta, claimed that the murder was planned from inside the jail. The police pointed fingers at three criminal gangs—Vikash Tiwari, Aman Shrivastav, and Aman Sahu. On Monday, the Jharkhand DG informed that the ATS had reached Raipur to interrogate Aman Sahu, who was imprisoned there, in connection with the murder case. On Tuesday, news emerged that Aman had tried to snatch an INSAS rifle from an ATS jawan and escape. He also fired at the police, who retaliated, resulting in his death.

Police sources reveal that Aman entered the world of crime at the age of 17. He faced over a hundred cases in Jharkhand alone. He had regular connections with Maoists and formed his own gang in 2013. The gang extorted money from coal traders. Two and a half years ago, he was accused of shooting and killing several people in Korba, Chhattisgarh. Between the ages of 17 and 30, Aman rapidly rose in the criminal world. The police claim he had close ties with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as well.
