According to the mythological story, one day, an apsara named Madhuri went to visit Kailash.

At that time, Mother Parvati was not present at Kailash. On that occasion, the apsara was trying to attract the attention of Shiva. As usual, Mahadev fell into Madhuri’s trap.

Then Parvati returned to Kailash and saw that Shiva’s ashes were on Madhuri’s body. Seeing this, Parvati became very angry with Madhuri and in anger, Parvati cursed her and transformed her into a frog and said that she would have to spend the rest of her life like this.

Seeing the outcome of this incident, Shiva requested Parvati to take back the curse. Parvati agreed. However, he said that ‘Madhuri will be able to return to her previous form after 12 years.’

The demon king Mayasur and his wife Hema had two children, Mayavi and Dhunduvhi. However, despite having two children, they had been praying for a daughter for a long time. At that time, the demon king Mayasur and his wife Hema got Madhuri as their daughter. However, even though they got Madhuri as a girl, both of them were regretting that Madhuri was in the form of a frog. And at that time Madhuri returned to her own form. Mayasur and Hema were happy to see such a wonderful form of their daughter. And then they named their daughter Mandodari.
