Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Giants by nine runs

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (54) and netminder Brent (38) led by Amelia Kerr (three wickets), Hayley Mathews and Shabnam Ismail (one wicket each) powered Mumbai Indians to a nine-run win over Gujarat Giants in the 19th match of the WPL. This is Mumbai’s sixth consecutive win over Gujarat.
Chasing a target of 180, Gujarat Giants got off to a poor start and lost four wickets for 54. Beth Mooney (seven), Kashvi Gautam (10), Ashley Gardner (zero) and Harleen Deol (24) were dismissed after scoring runs. Ismail bowled Phoebe Litchfield (22) in the 11th over. Amelia Kerr bowled Deandra Dutton (10) in the 14th over. Amelia Kerr gave Gujarat a big blow by dismissing Indian bowler Phulmali in the 17th over. Indian bowler Phulmali played a brilliant innings of 61 runs off 25 balls, which included eight fours and four sixes. In the 20th over, Hayley Mathews bowled Simran Sheikh (18) after running out Tanuja Kanwar (10) and gave a big blow to Gujarat’s hopes of winning the match. In the face of Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack, Gujarat Giants could only score 170 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by nine runs.

Mumbai Indians scored 179 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For Gujarat Giants, Tanuja Kanwar, Kashvi Gautam, Priya Mishra and Ashley Gardner dismissed one batsman each.
