A village without widows.. A woman remarried 10 days after her husband’s death!

Madhya Pradesh: (Widows) If a woman’s husband dies after marriage, she is considered a widow. But women from this one community remarry on the tenth day after their husband’s death.
We have such a system in India. Let’s learn about it today…
India is home to diverse traditions. Marriages are held according to caste, religion, and customs. If a husband dies after marriage, the woman is considered a widow. Tribal women (Gonds) from Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh do not remain widows even after the death of their husbands.
According to tribal tradition, women here remarry on the 10th day after the death of their husbands. These women remarry another member of their family. That person could be the husband’s brother. It could be anyone in their family.
Despite pressure, some women are refusing to remarry. Or if no one is available to marry this widowed woman, they have also found another solution. Such a woman is given a special silver bangle here. After wearing these bangles, she is considered a married woman.
These bangles are called Pota. This tradition is celebrated in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh. The Bod tribe still follows this tradition today.
These people follow this custom even after leaving their native village. It is also alive among the educated youth of the society.
