In a shocking escalation of pre-poll violence in West Bengal, the convoy of the BJP candidate from Cooch Behar South was brutally attacked on Tuesday. The incident took place in the Kesharibari area under Tufanganj 1 block. The windows of several vehicles in the convoy were shattered, and a BJP worker sustained serious injuries during the ruckus.

The Chaos at Kesharibari According to BJP sources, the attack occurred while the candidate was conducting a door-to-door campaign. A mob armed with sticks and stones allegedly ambushed the rally, leading to a violent confrontation. The BJP has pointed fingers at the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), claiming it was a pre-planned attempt to intimidate their supporters. The injured worker is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Political Blame Game The TMC has vehemently denied any involvement in the incident, calling it a result of “BJP’s internal factionalism.” They claimed that the BJP is trying to gain sympathy by staging such events. However, the situation remains extremely volatile in the region. A large police contingent has been deployed in Kesharibari to maintain law and order as the high-stakes 2026 Assembly Election approaches.
