“Iss Baar, Number 6!” Rohit Sharma’s Golden Promise to MI Fans Ahead of IPL 2026

With just a week to go before IPL 2026 kicks off, Rohit Sharma has sent a wave of excitement through the Mumbai Indians (MI) fanbase. Speaking at the franchise’s pre-season fan event, ‘The MIX,’ held at Jio World Garden in Mumbai, the five-time IPL-winning captain made a bold declaration. Rohit promised the thousands of gathered supporters that the team would strive to bring home a record-breaking sixth IPL title this year.
Sharing the stage with current skipper Hardik Pandya and star batter Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit addressed the cheering crowd: “I want to thank you all on my team’s behalf. Keep supporting us like you do every year. We love it. And in return, we will try to make it [title] number 6.” This statement from the ‘Hitman’ has significantly boosted the morale of the fans, who have been waiting for a title since 2020.
Despite a leadership transition last year that saw mixed reactions, the unity displayed by the senior trio of Rohit, Hardik, and Surya at the event suggests a revitalized squad. Rohit, looking leaner and fitter, recently showcased his form with a brilliant 155 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Head coach Mahela Jayawardene has also hinted that Rohit will be utilized in full capacity this season, moving away from the ‘Impact Player’ role. As MI prepares to face KKR in their season opener on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium, the “Mission Number 6” chant has officially become the team’s war cry.
