‘Is Police Working For Corporates?’ Congress Leader Amba Prasad Slams Her Own Government

In a shocking political development, former Congress MLA Amba Prasad has come out strongly against the police administration of her own government in Jharkhand. Speaking to the media at her Ranchi residence on Tuesday, Prasad raised serious questions about the integrity and functioning of the state police, particularly in the mining-rich districts of Ramgarh and Keredari.

Critique of Police Legal Knowledge: The Congress leader accused the police of being ignorant of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). She alleged that the police are registering FIRs under severe sections, such as Section 134, against ordinary citizens protesting in Keredari. “The police do not even understand the basics of the IPC. How can obstructing the work of a private outsourcing company be treated as a hindrance to government duty?” she questioned, adding that innocent people are being jailed daily.

Direct Challenge to the Administration: Since the Home and Industry portfolios are held by the Chief Minister, Amba Prasad’s statements are being seen as a direct critique of the current leadership. She claimed that despite an abundance of IAS and IPS officers, officials with criminal tendencies are being protected and assigned key roles. According to her, the state police are misappropriating public funds and acting as private security for large corporations.

Industrial Growth vs Public Interest: While clarifying that she supports industrial development, Amba Prasad emphasized that such growth must prioritize public welfare. She highlighted the plight of residents in mining areas who face constant harassment from law enforcement agencies. Her bold stance against her own government’s police force has created a significant stir in the political circles of Jharkhand.
