IPL 2025: Kohli, the Run Machine of IPL

Virat Kohli may not have an IPL trophy to his name yet, but he remains one of the most iconic players in the tournament’s history. Despite leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to three finals, Kohli couldn’t secure the coveted title. Even after stepping down from captaincy, he continues to be the backbone of RCB’s batting lineup. In the upcoming season, Kohli will play purely as a batsman, with leadership handed over to Rajat Patidar. Over the years, Kohli has set numerous records in the IPL, amassing 8,004 runs in 252 matches, including eight centuries and 55 half-centuries. His consistency and ability to deliver under pressure make him one of the greatest batters in the league.
Some of Kohli’s best innings are unforgettable. In 2016, he scored a staggering 973 runs, finishing the season with four centuries. One standout performance came against Gujarat Lions when he smashed an unbeaten 109 off just 55 balls. Another memorable knock was his unbeaten 113 against Kings XI Punjab that same year. Kohli is also known as the “Chase Master,” having delivered countless match-winning performances while chasing targets. With his recent milestone of playing 250 matches for a single franchise, Kohli has etched his name further into IPL history. As fans gear up for IPL 2025, all eyes will once again be on Kohli to see if he can finally lead RCB to victory.
