Internal Rift in North Bengal BJP! MP Blames TMC Turncoats for Ticket Resentment

Discontent over ticket distribution has hit the BJP hard in North Bengal ahead of the 2026 Assembly Elections. During a special strategy meeting held on Sunday to review campaign progress, the simmering tension between veteran workers and newcomers reached a boiling point. A prominent BJP MP reportedly voiced strong objections, blaming the influx of former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders for the growing resentment among the rank and file.
MP’s Shocking Allegations: The MP alleged that the party’s decision to field “turncoats” who recently jumped ship from the TMC has alienated loyalists who have stood by the party during its toughest times. “Those who faced TMC’s atrocities for years are being ignored, while new entrants are getting tickets within days. This whimsical approach will hurt us at the booth level,” the leader reportedly said.
Ground Reality in North Bengal: The meeting followed a series of protests across districts like Alipurduar and Cooch Behar, where party offices were vandalized by disgruntled supporters. While the leadership tried to focus on rectifying gaps in the election campaign, the shadow of internal rebellion loomed large. Political analysts suggest that this “Old vs. New” conflict could provide a significant advantage to the ruling TMC in a region where the BJP has traditionally been strong.
