The incident, which took place in a village under the Phaphund police station limits on Tuesday, left residents paralyzed with fear. When the family broke into the girl’s room after she failed to emerge for hours, they found a 5-foot-long snake skin entwined in her clothes on the bed, along with scattered bangles and vermilion.

Panic Grips the Village: As news of the discovery spread, rumors of the girl being an “Ichhadhari Naagin” (a mythical shape-shifting serpent) began to circulate like wildfire. Terrified villagers avoided the house, and local women started performing religious rituals to ward off what they believed was a supernatural curse. “We truly thought she had transformed into a snake and vanished,” remarked a local resident, reflecting the deep-seated superstition that gripped the community.

Police Reveal the Scripted Plot: The local police, led by Phaphund Station In-charge Ajay Kumar, arrived at the scene and immediately sensed foul play. Digital surveillance and a thorough search of the room debunked the “miracle.” It was revealed that the woman was in a long-standing relationship with a local youth and had intentionally planted the snake skin to frame her disappearance as a mystical event, hoping the authorities wouldn’t pursue a “spirit.”
