“I Have Nothing to Prove!” Shubman Gill Breaks Silence on T20 World Cup 2026 Omission

Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has sent a strong message to his critics following his exclusion from India’s T20 World Cup squad. Addressing the media on Thursday, March 26, 2026, the 26-year-old batting star stated that he does not feel the need to prove his worth in the upcoming IPL despite being overlooked by the national selectors for the marquee T20 event.

When asked if the World Cup snub adds extra pressure on him to perform in the IPL, Gill replied firmly, “Not at all. If you look at the past three or four seasons, I think I have the most runs in the IPL. So, I don’t feel I have anything to prove to anyone this season particularly. I have done decently well for this franchise, and I believe in my game.”

Gill, who currently leads India in Tests and ODIs, showed remarkable maturity while discussing his omission. “I am where I am supposed to be. Whatever is written in my destiny, no one can take that away from me,” he said, adding that he respects the selectors’ decision and wishes the T20 team the best for the World Cup. Gill’s focus is now entirely on leading the Gujarat Titans to their second title. He emphasized that staying calm and maintaining a “long-term vision” is key to his leadership style as GT prepares for their opening clash against Punjab Kings on March 31.
