“I Am Not Mukul Roy!” Subhranshu Roy Lashes Out After Being Denied Ticket for 2026 Polls

The political legacy of the late veteran Mukul Roy is back in the spotlight as his son, Subhranshu Roy, finds himself excluded from TMC’s candidate list for the 2026 Assembly elections. Despite speculations, the party reposed faith in Subodh Adhikari for the Bijpur seat, triggering a wave of resentment from Subhranshu.
The Refusal: Subhranshu claimed the party offered him the Krishnanagar North seat, which he point-blank refused. His defiant statement, “I am not Mukul Roy that I will contest from anywhere,” has sent shockwaves through the party ranks. He insisted on contesting from Bijpur or nearby areas only. While he maintains he has no regrets and is campaigning for the party, his underlying anger is evident.
Administrative Grievances: Beyond the election ticket, Subhranshu also vented his frustration regarding his role as the Deputy Chairman of Kanchrapara Municipality. He alleged that the position is symbolic with no real work as most processes are online. His admission of skipping board meetings due to this “lack of role” has added fuel to the fire. With the elections around the corner, Subhranshu’s public outburst could potentially hurt TMC’s prospects in the North 24 Parganas belt.
