Gas at ₹2000 and Petrol at ₹200 Post-Elections? Abhishek Banerjee’s Bold Challenge to PM Modi!

In the heat of the ongoing Lok Sabha election campaign, Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has stirred a major political controversy with a sensational claim regarding fuel prices. Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led central government, Banerjee asserted that once the elections conclude, the prices of essential fuels like LPG and petrol will reach unprecedented highs.

Speaking at a rally, Abhishek Banerjee threw a direct challenge to the Prime Minister, stating that the current stability in fuel prices is merely a “tactical pause” for the elections. He predicted that after the final votes are cast, the price of a domestic cooking gas cylinder would surge to ₹2000, and petrol prices would hit the ₹200 per litre mark. According to him, the BJP is intentionally keeping prices down to woo voters, only to impose a heavy financial burden on them later.

Banerjee accused the central government of prioritizing corporate interests over the welfare of the common man. He emphasized that the “pro-people” image projected by the BJP during the election season is a facade. “The moment the boxes are sealed, the inflation will be unleashed,” he warned the public, urging them to think twice before casting their votes. He also questioned the government’s transparency regarding the impact of global crude oil fluctuations on Indian consumers.

The BJP has dismissed these claims as “baseless fear-mongering” and a desperate attempt to consolidate votes. BJP leaders argued that fuel pricing is a complex issue linked to international markets and criticized the TMC leader for spreading misinformation without any economic basis. Nevertheless, Abhishek’s comments have ignited a fierce debate across social media and news platforms, leaving the common man worried about the post-election economic landscape. Whether this remains a political rhetoric or a grim reality remains to be seen after the results are announced.
