Fuel Price Shock: Premium Petrol Hiked by ₹11, Premium Diesel Up by ₹1.50 per Litre!

Effective from April 1, 2026, state-owned oil marketing companies have significantly hiked the prices of premium fuel variants. Amid rising global crude prices and geopolitical instability in West Asia, the price of XP100 premium petrol has surged by a massive ₹11 per litre, reaching ₹160 in Delhi. Similarly, the premium diesel variant, Xtra Green, saw an increase of ₹1.50 per litre.
The primary concern for the common man remains: will regular petrol and diesel prices follow suit? For now, the prices of normal petrol and diesel remain unchanged across major cities. This stability is attributed to recent excise duty cuts by the central government, which have provided a much-needed cushion. However, with commercial LPG prices also rising by ₹195.50 today, experts warn that the spike in premium fuels and logistics costs might eventually lead to indirect inflation in the coming weeks.
