From Panchayat Member to Party Chief: Humayun Kabir’s Multi-Million Assets Revealed in Affidavit

Humayun Kabir, a prominent and often controversial figure in Murshidabad’s politics, has filed his nomination as the head of the ‘Am Janata Unnayan Party’ for the Nowda and Rejinagar constituencies. Having traversed the political spectrum from Congress to TMC and BJP, his latest financial disclosure reveals a lifestyle far removed from his humble beginnings as a local panchayat member.

Income and Personal Assets: According to his election affidavit, Humayun Kabir has an annual income of ₹13.26 lakhs, primarily derived from his business ventures. While he holds ₹4.52 lakhs in cash, his immovable assets are anchored by a massive plot of agricultural land in Murshidabad valued at ₹2.10 crores. Interestingly, while Kabir does not own a residential house, he drives a luxury vehicle worth ₹3.3 million and possesses gold jewelry valued at over ₹5 lakhs.

The Wealth of Mira Sultan: His wife, Mira Sultan, holds a significant share of the family’s fortune. Her movable assets are valued at nearly ₹9.8 million. The most striking detail is her collection of 632.5 grams of gold, worth approximately ₹9.4 million at current market rates. Unlike her husband, she owns a residential property valued at ₹9 million. Together, the couple’s combined net worth stands at an impressive ₹5.5 crores.

Education and Legal Record: Kabir completed his graduation from Himalayan University in 2017. However, his political journey remains shadowed by legal challenges. The affidavit confirms that he faces four pending criminal cases, including charges related to communal incitement. As he enters the fray for two seats, his financial and legal status has become a major talking point among voters.
