Acclaimed actresses Sudipta Chakraborty and Bidipta Chakraborty have lost their mother, the renowned Odissi dancer and guru Dipali Chakraborty, on Thursday morning. She was 75. This immense personal loss comes at a time when the sisters were already grieving the tragic and sudden demise of their close colleague, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee.

According to sources, Dipali Chakraborty was undergoing treatment for a brain-related ailment at a private hospital in South Kolkata. Despite a recent surgery, she breathed her last early Thursday morning. Sudipta took to social media to share a poignant picture of her mother with the simple caption, “Ma,” while Bidipta wrote, “Stay well, Ma.” The family had previously lost their father, the legendary theater personality Biplabketan Chakraborty, in 2018. The sudden demise of their mother has left the industry and fans in shock.
