Fake Profile Slur in Baranagar! Sayantika Banerjee and Sajal Ghosh Lock Horns Over Identity Theft

The political battle for the Baranagar by-election has taken an ugly turn with a high-profile cyber-controversy. Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Sayantika Banerjee has alleged that a fake Facebook profile has been created in her name to spread misinformation and post derogatory content. This incident has triggered a fierce verbal spat between her and BJP candidate Sajal Ghosh, escalating the political tension in the constituency on Friday.
Sayantika, a popular actress-turned-politician, claimed that the BJP is terrified of her growing support and is resorting to character assassination. “Sajal Ghosh and his party have realized their defeat is imminent. That is why they are creating fake accounts to malign my image,” she stated. Sayantika has already lodged a formal complaint with the Cyber Cell, demanding immediate action against those trying to “poison the cultural fabric of Baranagar with dirty politics.”
Responding sharply to the allegations, Sajal Ghosh dismissed them as “baseless and politically motivated.” He countered by saying that the BJP has no interest in such trivial activities and suggested that the internal rift within the TMC might be responsible for the act. “Sayantika is playing the ‘victim card’ because she has no real issues to talk about. We don’t need to create fake profiles; the people of Baranagar know the truth,” Ghosh remarked. He further added that the TMC should stop blaming the opposition for their own internal failures. As the voting day approaches, the battle in Baranagar has transcended developmental issues, turning into a bitter personal rivalry between the two heavyweights.
