Ex-Army Man Opens Fire to Save Sister’s Honor! One Dead, Two Critical in Mumbra Shooting

A shocking incident unfolded in Thane’s Mumbra area on Thursday morning when a 51-year-old ex-army man, Jayan Shivanandan Nair, opened fire on three youths for allegedly molesting his foster sister. The shooting resulted in the immediate death of 29-year-old Akbhar Abdul Sheikh, while the other two, Abdul Hasan Sheikh and Samir Ahmed Sheikh, are battling for their lives in a local hospital.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 11:30 AM near a primary school in Kailash Nagar. The three accused had been repeatedly harassing the young woman, passing lewd comments and stalking her for several days. Despite multiple warnings from Nair, the trio persisted. On Thursday morning, when they cornered her again, Nair lost his cool. Following a heated argument, he pulled out a revolver and fired five rounds at the harassers.

Mumbra Police arrested Nair from the spot and seized the weapon. Charges of murder and attempted murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have been filed against him. While locals acknowledge the persistent issue of eve-teasing in the area, the violent retaliation has left the community in shock. The police are currently investigating the source of the weapon and recording the victim’s statement to build a comprehensive case.
